Qualifications to become Food Armor® Certified

Farms must implement and maintain all six sections of the Food Armor® HACCP for Proper Drug Use program with the Veterinarian of Record and corresponding VCPR team to achieve Food Armor® certification. A farm must work through the certification process with a Food Armor® Accredited Veterinarian. The signatures of the Farm Owner, Veterinarian of Record, and Food Armor® Accredited Veterinarian are required for certification. Certification is specific to a farm’s individual milk license. If a farm does not sell milk, Food Armor® certification is specific to the farm’s physical address. Food Armor® certification must be renewed annually and the signatures of all three parties listed above are required at each annual recertification.

In order to achieve and maintain Food Armor® certification, farms must:

  • Implement and maintain all six sections of the Food Armor® HACCP for proper drug use plan
  • Provide current and accurate information during the certification process
  • Immediately notify the Veterinarian of Record and Food Armor® Accredited Veterinarian of any milk or tissue residue violation
  • Cooperate if selected for independent third party verification

Additionally, any farm seeking Food Armor® certification must pay the applicable certification fee to the Food Armor® program. This fee includes all certification materials.
